Wind Energy R&D Park and Storage System Project Announced - Aug 20, 2010
Premier Robert Ghiz was joined by Prime Minister Stephen Harper at the Wind Energy Institute of Canada (WEICan) in North Cape, Prince Edward Island, on August 20, 2010, to announce that WEICan would be recieving Clean Energy Fund support for its "Wind Energy R&D Park and Storage System for Innovation in Grid Integration" project. This inintiative will see WEICan build and operate a 9 to 10 MW wind turbine cluster and electricity storage system near its existing facility in North Cape. The total project cost is estimated to be in the $24 million range with $12 million being contributed by the Federal Government and the remainer from the Province of Prince Edward Island through a low interest loan agreement.
